Remove the Mask and Being Your Authentic Self

There are some topics that are deeply personal — who we are, how we feel, and what we like to do. It’s no surprise that we prefer to keep those things private. But when we are out in the world, we need to be a part of the social group we are with, and it’s very hard just to be ourselves, especially if you are a woman, if you are aging, or if you are a person of color.

Why Do We Tend to Hide Our Real Self?

Why do we hide our true selves from society? Why do we hide who we truly are from the world? There are many reasons why people feel the need to hide. Some of these reasons are very personal, some are still very new in the public eye, and others just simply cannot abide by the judgments of society.

Sometimes we’re afraid to be ourselves. We hide behind masks to make others like us. We don’t want to be judged. But the truth is, we’re all unique, and our unique traits make us unique. Some people like to be loud and outgoing, while others shy away from the spotlight. Some people are confident, while others struggle to speak up. And some people hide their true feelings because they’re afraid that if someone learns their deepest secrets, they’ll reject them.

We put many masks on each day, those that we wear to fit in and keep people from seeing our true selves. Some are there to hide our weaknesses, to make us seem better than we are. Others are there to hide our strengths, to make us seem more vulnerable. Sometimes it’s easier to hide who you are than it is to be your authentic self. But being your authentic self is the best way to be happy and have the best relationships, according to many scientists.

Overcome the Things That Way You Down and Change You

Most of us have trouble in our lives—fears, memories, insecurities, anxieties. They can all weigh us down, and at times can even hold us back from being our authentic selves. Losing your identity, your confidence, or your sense of self is a big deal. It’s important to understand that there is a way to overcome these hurdles and that the process of losing them is a deeply personal journey.

The day you became a better version of you found you were not as vulnerable to negative thoughts, feelings, or emotions, but instead, more compassionate, courageous, and courageous. You no longer needed to “play small,” but you can now step forward into your power and allow others to step up into theirs. The biggest risk to your success is not your fear of being rejected but the fear of being seen.

Success Comes Easier When You are The Real You

If you want to find out what it really means to be you, think about maintaining a positive attitude and learning to accept yourself for who you are. This is important, especially for women, people of color, and older people. Make sure that you are carefree enough to achieve your dreams. Do not be bothered by what other people say.

Being yourself is what makes you, YOU.

You can’t be yourself if you aren’t who you really are. You can’t be your authentic self if you’re afraid to be who you are. You can’t be yourself if you live a lie. You can’t be yourself if you’re afraid of being judged. You can only be yourself if you can tell the truth, be yourself, and live your life to the fullest.

Reading this was the highlight of my day. I believe there is something refreshing about removing the 🎭. Once you’ve experienced the beauty of being unapologetically you it is difficult deciding if you are willing to go back to being covered or bathe in your new freedom. I chose me and I hope you continue to choose you.
