We Are What We Think

Are you one of those avid fans of podcasts? You’ve possibly heard speakers encourage a “growth mindset.” Having and improving this mindset appears to be the secret to success, as most will claim.

Unfortunately, many women have grown up being said their skills are limited and fixed. It can be a big fight to believe in ourselves and get rid of the idea that we can’t become great.

But try to read books, attend workshops, and listen to a podcast of some of the most empowered women across the world. You will realize there’s one thing these successful women had in common. That’s a growth mindset.

A growth mindset is a mindset setting these successful women apart from others.

You will find two types of mindset: growth and fixed mindsets.

Fixed mindsets enable people to see their qualities as fixed traits, which can’t be changed. People with this mindset think talent alone establishes success—without the effort needed. That means your intelligence, talent, and effort are fixed points that cannot be enhanced over time.

Meanwhile, a growth mindset enables you to take risks, lower stress, support motivation, enhance the relationship, boost work performance, and support higher accomplishments.

In short, it is all about thinking you can.

What if we are made of greatness? What if our real potential is unknown and just waiting to be discovered? What if it’s possible to predict what we can accomplish with a few years of training and passion?

You see, this isn’t just a hypothetical situation dependent on our genes or environment. It’s a mindset we can cultivate at any point in our life.

More and more successful women today embrace a growth mindset. Meaning they are in a constant state of self-empowerment. They simply do not sit back and enjoy the skills or talents they have obtained up to a certain level of their lives.

Instead, these women are curious to get better, learn more, strengthen their skills, and get new ones to help them on their journey to success.

You Become What You Think About

Keep in mind that your mind guides your life.

The thoughts you let into your brains each day form your life and determine your future. You may have heard of that concept that we become what we think about from Earl Nightingale.

Earl claims that all humans are the total of their thoughts and that he is in life because that is where he wants to be.

That responsibility is the case for us. We can transform our lives at any given time, but the intention should be there, or else nothing will happen.

As women, we make choices about our lives, what we do with our time, where we are, and more. These choices are based on our beliefs and our thoughts. Our beliefs and thoughts contribute to our behavior and decisions. Hence, our actions, character, and personality.

We become what we think about all day long.

It is not all impossible. In fact, it is doable if you follow tips such as:

  • Learn something new each day
  • Be open to new opportunities
  • Do not complacent
  • Challenge your fear
  • Change the way you perceive success
  • Use each opportunity to learn whenever and wherever

So, take the time to think about what you’ve read today. Try to plant a seed in your mind. What do you want in life? What do you wish to become? Work towards that and keep in mind that you are what you think.
